The Outdoor Education Council of Ottawa (OECO) supports quality outdoor education programs for students and the community in the Ottawa region, seeking to broaden the programs’ accessibility and enhance their sustainability.
The Outdoor Education Council of Ottawa assists its member organizations in developing, delivering and marketing a wide range of accessible, quality outdoor education experiences that enable students and the community to increase environmental literacy and develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to value and conserve the natural environment.
The Outdoor Education Council of Ottawa delivers on its mission and mandate by:
- developing collaborative, effective and efficient systems for delivery and marketing of outdoor education programs and related services in the Ottawa region,
- increasing public awareness of the availability and benefits of outdoor and environmental education programs in the Ottawa region,
- advocating at a municipal and provincial level for the support of outdoor education,
- assisting member organizations in identifying potential fundraising sources and mechanisms, and
- engaging in direct fundraising for the support of OECO activities.
