Mill of Kintail Conservation Area
For more than twenty years, Mississippi Valley Conservation has offered schools and other organizations quality Outdoor Education programs. These programs have the goal of instilling conservation ethics and an appreciation of our natural and cultural resources. Hands-on learning experiences are delivered at the historic Mill of Kintail Conservation Area located along the Indian River. Many of the Ontario curriculum-based programs can also be delivered off-site at schools with a nearby forested area, pond, stream or creek. Each year, the conservation authority provides a Spring Water Awareness Program to elementary school children within the Mississippi Valley watershed. Other Mill of Kintail programs include a water festival and a summer day camp that immerses children in an environment of natural and historic beauty as they learn nature appreciation, conservation, and stewardship. Mill of Kintail programs can be customized for home-schooled students and pre-school groups. The extensive grounds at the Mill of Kintail Conservation Area, the Gatehouse Conference Centre, and the picturesque Cloister-on-the-Hill are also available for special events, retreats, and corporate functions.
